“ Despite having to wait for approximately 30 minutes to be seated and a few more minutes for the food to be served, we thoroughly enjoyed the authentic Kerala cuisine. We tried their vegetarian meals as well as fish curry meals, along with a variety of seafood dishes such as Ayala fry, Mathy fry, and Prawn ghee roast. The meals were accompanied by delicious Payasam (must have), butter milk, as well as pappad, pickle, sambar, 2 vegetable dishes, and a bowl of fish curry with 2 small pieces of Neymeen (depending on availability). The prices were reasonable, and the food was of excellent quality and quantity. This place doesn't have the typical ambiance of a hotel, but rather offers a cozy homely atmosphere as it is located in a three-story bungalow. ”

“ Food: Barotta and puttu with chicken curry - Signature cylindrical puttu which is usually a comfort food. Barottas usually make me feel heavy, especially the Kerala style, but this one was smooth and gentle on the tummy. Crispy and flaky on the outside which is the sign of the best barotta, soft and spongy as you pour your gravy on top of it to soak and munch on this beauty.  Wow, very good Chicken gravy where the meat just glides from the bone, succulent, fragrant, and quite coconutty!! (Served with spicy buttermilk) Beef ghee roast - Best beef roast I've had with chunks of coconut all around. Damn juicy with all the pieces cooked to perfection; unlike the rubber texture at many other places. Loved the spices which were infused well and elevated the KL-style meat  Chicken kebab - What I thought was a chargrilled kebab was instead tossed in signature spices, marinated well, and fried until it was crunchy on the outside and very tender on the inside. Though this was with bones, it has all the qualities to be labeled a better kebab Chapati with beef curry - SOULTIMATE!! Yes, the curry and the well-cooked meat touch our souls and deep down. The chapati was very good but the best part was the curry. So aromatic, mild spiced, flavorful gravy filled with excellent beef. Smooth and tender, OH WOW! Moong dal payasam to finish the meal was classic, very smooth, rich in Kerala style Ambiance/ Price: The people who run this place always wear a smile and are very down to earth. Probably a family-run business with an open kitchen and a residential building with a hotel on the ground level. Such a shame that I'm still not cleared to try out seafood. Parking is quite tight but that wouldn't concern people who visit this place. They've got limited seating but the home-cooked food service was prompt and courteous. No posh design, only a simple home setup. Their price is the highlight since they're economical and even consolidating all their dishes wouldn't cost more than 2000. Totally worth it. ”

“ This is a bungalow converted to a restaurant with chairs and a dining table on each floor. The food served here is authentic Kerala cuisine with a feel of home. We tried the prawns biryani here and it came with papad, raita and payasam. The biryani was delicious and the experience was very much like dining at home. So there’s that legendary touch of spice and subtle sweetness. And, if you’re lucky, you might even get a historical reference to how Vasco da Gama first tasted their garam masala. Where did they meet? Zamorin’s Guruvayurappan College. I assume between chayya, parippu vada, pazham pori, and heated debates over which Kerala district has the best food. Answer: Kozhikode, obviously . When it came to settling down, they picked namma Bengaluru. And for that, let’s all say a collective “Thank you, chetta and chechi!”. A Treasure Hunt Finding this place? Easiest thing in the world… if you have the eyes of a trained eagle! One second, you’re on the right track; blink, and you’ve overshot it by two streets. Finally, when you do spot it and step in, you’re greeted by tables spread across two floors. The real action? That happens on the first floor. Billing, cooking, and, presumably, some controlled chaos. Expectations vs Reality I strolled in at 12:45 PM like a king, fully expecting to have the place to myself. Ah, what a peaceful early day feast this shall be! But no. The ground floor was packed. Full. I looked around, half-expecting to see a Kerala wedding reception happening somewhere in the corner. No luck. So, I took the narrow staircase to the second floor, saying a quick prayer at the Krishna idol on the way. You know, just in case my meal needed divine intervention. Meanwhile, one of the servers was busy adjusting his hair. I respect a man who takes grooming seriously. Priorities. No Biriyani? No Problem. Since they didn’t have chicken biriyani , I decided to go old school. Kerala parotta with chicken curry and chicken fry. You can never go wrong with this combo. Never. As I waited, they brought a sampler. Buttermilk and semiya payasam. Buttermilk: Loaded with green chilies. Just one sip, and I was contemplating life choices. This was not buttermilk; this was an open challenge to my spice tolerance. Payasam: Thank god for this. Sweet, smooth, and did not try to attack me. Well done. By the time my food arrived, the extra chairs at my table had vanished. Meaning? They had been “borrowed” by fellow diners. Bangalore dining etiquette 101! No Fusion Nonsense. Now, here’s the best part. Authentic Kerala flavours. None of that weird fusion business where someone gets “creative” and adds cheese to puttu or Nutella to parotta. This was proper, wholesome, straight-from-home kind of food. I did a little fieldwork. You know, casual gossiping with the regulars. One common suggestion? Avoid the fish. Duly noted. This place is definitely not a café. This is a restaurant, Malayalees! A full-on “sit down, eat properly, and leave happy” restaurant. Some TLC Needed. Restroom situation? Needs a solid clean-up session. The soap in the dispenser? Suspiciously watery. I may have just washed my hands with flavored water. Interiors? Dingy. Not in a horror movie way, but in a “some bright lighting wouldn’t hurt” way. Delivery? No Swiggy? No Zomato? Why, why? Odd hour cravings are real. “ Had a great experience at God’s Own Café! We tried the Kerala-style fish meals (₹150), which came with flavorful rice, tangy fish curry, and traditional sides — a wholesome and satisfying meal. The prawns ghee roast (₹300) was rich and aromatic, cooked with Kerala spices and plenty of ghee, giving it a deep, bold flavor. We also had a tasty double omelette (₹30).
